Bucky Katt takes shape thanks to Blender.

Blender. You've heard of it right?

I downloaded it years ago. I HATED it...the interface, the lack of help besides the mostly non-English speaking message boards at the time, well, that's all changed.

Now I'm starting to love it. With things like the many blender blogs, boards, and video tutorials that have popped up, as well as the commercially available books it doesn't make me want to pull my eyes out with a pickle fork.

So, without too much trouble I've gotten some of the basics of getting around and modeling in blender. This is the first organic modeling I've done, so it's a bit rough still and is a work in progress. It's really just a learning exercise on how to model things in there, and will be rigged and set up for animation at some point.

He is of course, Bucky Katt from Get Fuzzy.

It'll be a while until I can get him all set. Did I mention I'll probably upload the .blend file for him once he's all set?

In the mean time I'll be attempting to get good enough with Blender to pull off some of the CGI elements for a new short film I'm working on. It requires a fly crawling up a nose and a few other shots that probably are best to do CGI, at least on the budget we've got to work with.

Check back for more later.
